Rosin

There is a variety of rosin made of sap from different trees, formulated and processed with chemical additives - they vary in colour, clarity and stickiness/grip properties.

Lower quality rosin contains less of natural ingredients and produces more "dust". Higher quality rosin enables bowing without scratching, especially when a thin layer has been applied. Generally violin/viola rosin is harder then cello rosin (medium hard) and bass rosin is softer. One of the factors influencing choice of rosin is the kind of strings in use.

Steel core strings play better with hard rosin, synthetic and gut core strings sound better with a softer one.  KCM carries great selection of rosin to satisfy needs of different players.
